RFID Journal reports that Arby’s Restaurants plans to accept a variety of contactless/ touchless payment cards at 1,000 of their 3,500 locations in North America. This includes their T.J. Cinnamon’s and Pasta Connections locations. Similarly, Seven & I Holdings Co. is introducing e-money readers into Japanese Seven-Eleven stores. They are trying to set up an infrastructure to accept other e-money services at a future date, so they are setting up multi-readers.

This is the first I’ve come across information regarding a mention to a solution to the plethora of e-money technology. I still believe that there will be problems in the future when citizens rebel against having to carry multiple smartcards. A worldwide standard for e-money, contactless/ touchless payment, and other RFID-based smartcards is crucial to wide acceptance.
