NEWS:
- Oil has dropped slightly for the last couple of days, possibly on the news that Iran has accepted the US offer.
- The Dow flipped and flopped yesterday like a fish out of water. At the end of the day, it was down 71 points, taking it around 10,930. Today, it’s flipping between 40-64-74 points downwards.
- Japan to get the RIM Blackberry. This new Japanese Blackberry is expected to be able to receive email at the same time that a voice call is taking place. RIM (NYSE: RIMM, TSX: RIM), the maker of the popular Blackberry PDA, has seen its stock go down this quarter (on both American and Canadian markets) after reaching a high around late March. But watch RIM’s stock over the next year, as I think it’ll be climbing back up.
- Motorola (NYSE: MOT), who have just released their new ultra-slim MotoQ, to challenge Blackberry and Palm PDAs, may or may not score a victory in the hot PDA market. On the luxury end of things, they’ve teamed up with fashion giants Dolce & Gabbana to come up with the gold-coloured Motorazr V3i DG cell phone, apparently available only in Italy, Philippines, Singapore, and the UK. While the MotoQ has a lot of strong, useful features and runs on EVDO networks, I’m not sure if they’ll displace the Palm or Blackberry.
