• The Dow made a comeback late in the day, to end up slightly positive from the day before, but still below 11,000.

• Pharmaceutical giant Merck (NYSE: MRK) was just granted approval by the FDA for the first-ever cancer vaccine, Gardasil. Gardasil supposedly prevents cervical cancer, which kills 300,000 women every year in the United States. The news seem not to have affected the stock, which was trading at just under US$44 around 4 pm today.
