About You

You are a “small” investor in North America (USA, Canada) with assets of between $500-$25,000. You’re looking for some markets news about a variety of sectors. You are a global investor in that while you trade on American or Canadian stock exchanges, you are interested in companies based anywhere in the world. You know that market or general events elsewhere can affect you in North America.

You might also be new to online trading and using software for trades. I’ll be reviewing software packages on occasion. While I may mention trading services such as E-Trade, I will not review them. (It’s difficult for me to do because most of these services are American and I live in Canada.) An investment glossary will also be added in the future.

About Me

I’m a modern renaissance man, with an interest in anything and everything. I’m a computer programmer, mathematician, composer, musician, poet, writer, personal coach, and chef. Leonardo da Vinci is one of my role models, as are Americans Thomas Edison and Benjamin Franklin - all three of whom are inventors. Abraham Lincoln is another role model, and reading about him in my youth made me open my mind to a global view: a world wealth view.

The result of my lack of focus? I have a broad knowledge of many sectors of the stock market, and investment options, without being a stock broker. I almost wrote my Canadian broker’s exam in 2000, but decided not to. However, I have done computer consulting for several large financial institutions, and have worked for several companies pre-IPO.

I use statistical analysis to spot trends - when I have data available to me. In fact, I managed to predict three of four North American market turns in 2000. Unfortunately, my funds were low at the time and I did not capitalize on these changes. Others have made money on tech stocks by listening carefully to my suggestions and rationale.

My market focus tends to be on sectors that include digital money/ payment, general techlogy, consumer electronics, financial institutions, computer makers, software makers, alternate fuels, entertainment + media, publishing, Internet services, and more.

Summary: You’ll get a generalist view here, without the stuff outlook of that some market “experts” often give off. You can ask me questions, and I’ll actually either try to answer or tell you I don’t know. If I’ve got the time, I’ll see if I can answer your question. [Although because of the multiple projects I’ve got going on, I may not be able to respond to comments and questions immediately.]
